4 Tell-Tale Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Windows
Owning a home costs time and money, and renovations can easily be put on the back burner until they’re absolutely necessary. But how do you know it’s time to replace your windows? Check for these four main signs!
1. Noisy Sounds — Do your windows rattle when it’s windy outside? Does it seem like you can hear your neighbors more clearly? If your windows are making noise themselves and are letting in more outside noise, they probably need replaced. A better fitting window will solve rattling noises, and better insulation will decrease the outside noise.
2. Drafty Breezes — If your window is knocking from the wind, you’re also probably noticing cool drafts. Check your window for any gaps and contact us for a replacement if necessary! Drafty windows can lead to higher heating and cooling bills, but investing in replacements will save you in the long run.
3. Difficulty Opening and Closing — Your windows should easily open and close if they’re properly maintained. If you’re noticing them “sticking” when you try to let in the summer breeze or not closing and locking all the way, it could be a sign of deterioration, rusting or rotting.
4. Condensation — Are your windows “sweating”? Condensation isn’t always a bad thing and can happen in extreme temperatures due to the difference in the outdoor and indoor temperatures. However, if you notice water droplets between the glass panes of your windows, it could be a sign that the seals on the insulated glass are no longer working.
